I gave each of my intern/apprentice gunsmiths a Traditions Hawken kit. They finished them up nicely in a few hours. There is some excess wood, but never mind. They look pretty good, and seem to shoot. On Fridays at 3:00 we quit work to clean the shop, and after that is free time for your own projects. If my wife is busy I come to the shop on Sunday, and the crew is welcome to come and work on their own stuff. That's when I teach them techniques outside their interest areas (AR's, AKs and plastic pistols) such as stock work wood and metal finishing and traditional firearms repairs. I'm mid 70's and they are early 20's, but the generation gap is bridged by love of firearms. Plus, they haven't heard all of my old jokes.....
