Traditions PA Pellet with accelerator

Just a note on the Traditions PA Pellet, 1:28. I was NOT able to load easily with a 0.015 lubricated patch. Pushed so hard that I distorted the tip of a short ram so I only loaded one round by pushing really hard on the rod. However, I just received some lubricated 0.010 patches (Trade of the Wolf) and they work. I can load with a 0.010 patch. Been trying to get Traditions to tell me the groove depth - still waiting.

You can slug it yourself easily to find out. Brass rod close to bore size from hardware store cut to a length that gives mass and motion down the bore. Slightly smash a RB just so it can be tapped in with a wooden mallet and fully fill the bore. Tip the rifle up and down enough times to let the rod knock the ball back out. Some of us on here have gotten European made rifles made to shoot conicals like yours with tight bores. Some like mine so tight most .54 cal stuff won't even start.

The latter. They designed these for people who want to hunt the muzzleloader/flintlock* season in PA, but who want everything else about it to be as modern as they can.

I have one of the early ones(2104ish, iirc), with the RealTree(TM) finish, stainless barrel, removable breechplug, fiber optic sights, etc. I've never actually run pellets or sabots from it, but that's what it's for.

I don't know about these newest ones, but mine had a real soft frizzen, didn't seem to shoot round ball or T/C Maxis well.

Though I may not have tried enough load combos. I might just see if I can get a better frizzen. I bought it because it was inexpensive at the time, and it was weird. It's still one of those things, at least.


*I don't know if it's one ML season and only flintlocks are allowed, or if there's more than one season.
