Yep, they're a menace around here. Between them and the stray cats I haven't seen a wild quail in 10 years. It used to be you couldn't bushhog a field without flushing 2 or 3 coveys.
its same here in north carolina.some coveys of birds are still around here down in the pee dee national wildlife refuge in wadesboro. its really sad that they(quail) are no longer around where i deerhunt.
 
i just started laying steel, mostly for fisher and bobcat, which automatically means catching coons, skunks, and possums, nest raiders all, that always clog up the early traps, but after i've thinned out those junk critters and can make a nice careful set for the harder species, i'll set a few canid traps for coyotes. it's a war.
