i recently aquarie an underhammer rifle in .36cal with a 32" bbl just wonder what the trej. would be if sihgt in is at 25yrds with 35gr 3f about where would the prb.strike at .50-75 and 100yards not to lazy to find out for myself just wanted some expert opinions  ill find out for sure when i can get some range time but just want to know what to expect.

Tom, I for sure am no expert but this is my
experience with the .36 cal.
I no longer have it but I did have a .36cal
GMB that was a drop in on my Investarms Hawken.
I used it on squirrel and other small game.
I never targeted it over 50 yds. Zeroed at 25yds
with 40 grns of 3fff, goex...At 50yds...depending on the weather, with same load and PRB and POA
the same as at 25yds my groups were just a tad
lower(maybe 1/2"). These were made from the same
bench rest with the target being at the same
height from ground for both 25 and 50yds, which
I personally consider critical, when I do my
sight ins. Just my opinion. By the way this was a
.32" barrel with 1/60 or 1/66 twist.Not sure which.

 I have an H&A underhammer in .36 calibre and it was sighted in at 25 yards on a 25 yard slow fire pistol target. My load was 38 grams of fffg Swiss patched rb and I sighted it in to be about 3"high at 25yards and can state that at 50 yards I was close to being right on the X ring about 1.50" low. I don't talk about groups as no one IMHO shoots 2.5-3" groups offhand with a 3#-4# trigger.

I have been spending alot of enjoyable bench time with a 36cal. Lancaster with a 42" Colerain "A" weight barrel. My load that I am now sticking with in this gun is 25gr. of 3F Swiss, .350 ball, .017 patch, keeps me so close to "X's" all the way to 75yds, I can't find a reason to change the load. Out to 100yds., I bump up the powder to 30gr. All the way to 100yds on a calm day I can keep the grps. to an inch or less, off of the bench. The secret with this small bore for me though at long range is wind. It does seem to be very wind sensitive, much more than a heavier 50cal. ball. But for a squirrel getter and a long range, calm day groundhog getter, it should be perfect!

This is just a guess because my Lyman Handbook doesn't list a 35 FFFg load or a 32 inch barrel in a .36 caliber, but the velocity might be around 1790 FPS.
If it was, then if the gun was sighted in at 25 yards, at 50 yards the ball would hit 0.4 inches low. At 70 yards it would hit 2.3 inches low and at 100 yards it would hit 8.5 inches low.

I got this data from my little roundball trajectory program.

zonie :)

The trajectory is much like that of a high speed .22 long rifle loading. Not the super fast zingers, but the one with the 40 grain bullet. Sight in at 12.5 yards it ought to be zeroed at 75 yards and 2" or more low at 100.

Zonie,
Wow, even though I was using 5grns more
powder,I was fairly close to your chart. I am
not a great shot even from a bench...I have much
better guns than eyes. But I really like being
close to some kind of chart :rotf:

two-bellys,

your mind......Looking forward to seeing todays mail.
