Darkhorse, I haven't hunted in my native Georgia in maybe 18 years. Back then I saw a good many turkeys and called up a few. But there certainly were loads of coyotes and bobcats right along with raptors, coons and foxes. While most critters do have some degree of boom & bust population dynamics, what you describe does sound like something else entirely. I'd be interested in hearing more about what the research turns concerning the turkey decline.

Me too Hanshi. It's still too early for them to draw accurate conclusions. In the meantime there is talk of pushing opening day back a couple of weeks to give the turkeys more time to breed undisturbed and lowering the daily bag limit.
