My guess is that nickle plated would be harder than copper plated but softer than steel...do you happen to know if a protective shot cup is required for nickle plated or can I shoot it bare in a smoothbore ML like I do copper plated?
 
Precision Reloading doesn't list any nickle plated shot on their web site, and the only copper plated shot they have is the Lawerence brand...so no luck there.
 
Ballstics Products carries nickle plated...just need confirmation that I don't need a protective shot cup like those required for steel.

If not, I'll get their 11 pound bag of nickle plated #6's for future turkey loads...let's see now...at two shots per season...11 lb bag...I'm 62....yeah, that'll last me.
 
Nickle plated shot is safe in all barrels. Its great shot but its not cheap.Precision Reloading is the only supplier of lead BB size shot that I know of.

Sounds like it's the same as copper plated in that regard...I use copper plated without any wad or sleeve in my .20ga Flint smoothie and based upon your comment, I can use nickel plated shot the same way without harm...
