Well I finalized my order with Tennesse Valley Muzzleloading.
I ordered the Southern Rifle in iron. A "non-Poor Boy" with the following specs:

-Nosecap, toe plate, sideplate and
entry thimble
-top of the line walnut
-L & R Durs Egg flintlock/L & R set triggers
-long tang but not a "Lolipop"
-Green Mountain 7/8ths" X 42 octagon barrel
-A different Southern Patchbox-A non banana
from a known rifle, but unknown maker in
Somerset County.
TVM has been very nice in their helping me through the ordering process. I have seen the quality of their work. Now it's just the wait. In the meantime, my old Lyman Great Plains Rifle .54 I've had for 13 years is sighted in and ready for deer season!

Way ta go Norseman..I wish ya the best with it. Now if I can just make up my own mind...

Well good for you Norseman! I was about worn out from waiting to hear the news! :kid: I'm sure you'll like the rifle and good luck with it when it arrives.

Congrats on the new rifle order, Norseman :D I'm in the same boat, waiting for my Sells Tennessee Rifle (and having the GPR .54 sighted in case it doesn't arrive in time to shoot it in by hunting season).

Would really be interested in details of that patchbox (not sure I want to go with banana-type :hmm:). Where is Somerset Co?

Could you please tell me what they said was the ETA for the gun? I am just curious as to the wait.
thanks

ETA is 10 more months. The wait is up to a year, but from all I have spoken to, was well worth the wait. I also appreciate this site and all the knowlegable guys here. Their inputs have really helped me out as to historical accuracy and such. A great bunch of guys! A great Muzzle loading site as well. Hope this helps.

I hope your right, In three days it will be a year on my
Tenn. Let me tell ya I'm gettin anxious - I found another Tenn. that I bought outright and have been usin it but still hopin my wait ends soon. The time does go by although at times it seems to drag.
Gots to be gettin close...
:hmm:
