Do anyone with a Uberti 1860 Army have problems with the wedge not going in far enough?

When I tap it in all the way, the cylinder will drag and doesn't rotate, so I tap it out just enough so it rotates nicely with the correct cylinder gap. However, the wedge on the tapping side of the barrel (right side) is just flush with the barrel!
Is this safe? The little tongue just barely latches on the outside.
Whereas on the 51 Navy the cylinder gap is good with nice cylinder rotation with the wedge driving in all the way, and sticks out much further on the right side.

Should the wedge on the Army drive in similar to the Navy? It almost seems like they have the same wedge, considering it looks to small for the Army model. Should I return this or is this normal and safe to shoot?

I beleive the wedge is setup that as the gun wears it will go in more.
Lehigh...

Many of these revolvers are like this when new. Some wedges will have to stick out more than others, till they're worn in. What I have done is use a rubber mallet and tap the wedge in and out 2-3 dozen times when they're new. This helps. I have also used a small mill file to de-burr the slot in the barrel. Doesn't take much. Other than this, Lehigh is right. A few cylinders of shooting and dis-assembly for cleaning will loosen this up and allow you to drive the wedge in all the way. All the Colt type revolvers have this quirk when new. At least all I've owned since the 60's. :winking:

I think the tongue on the end of the barrel wedge is there only to keep the wedge from falling out when you tap it out to pull the barrel. I don't think it is supposed to serve any purpose on the right side of the gun.
