I just got the Cattleman 44 from uberti. I bought it because I wanted something fun to shoot.I read the booklet and no where does it say what size caps it takes. I assume it takes #10 but how would I know for sure. The guy at Cabelas said 10's. Can the nipples be changed to 11's? Has any one had any experience with this model? I could use a little insight. The gun is beautiful.

10's might be the best choice. I use 11's and give them a slight squeeze to stay tight...probably not the best solution. Be sure to use the trigger guard hold with the left hand, those babies can spit some real lead shavings and powder blasts out the cylinder gap! Mine has dumped several coyotes so far. Don't intend to try it out on anything bigger...personal rule!

Ditto on Wes' answers, especially keeping that hand away from the cylinder.

Hey Wes, did you noticed how Uberti didn't stamp the entire OHSA manual on the barrel?

Been a while since I posted, ok here goes.

Got one of these babys and it looks nice, but the darn (forget the term) star on the back of the cylinder seems to pinch the metal around the pin and causes the darn thing to hang after only a few shots.

Before you start yelling I am not going crazy with loads but the thing binds up. That coupled with the 1/4 piece of steel to grab on to it spells one bad trip to the range!

I tried filing it down to be smoother and filed the whole a bit to make it bigger but nothing.

Any ideas? Gunsmith might be one...the other one is trade it in! Any ideas are appreciated.

I just picked one up it must be an earlier model, it's only marked under the loading lever, (blk powder only-a.ubertiitaly.) it shoots suprisingly well. just take care using anything vertical to steady your aim as I recieved an interesting facial tatoo :nono:
