If you are interested in Civil War handguns I suggest that you take a look at the Rogers & Spencer .44. The one I have was made by (DGG) Armi San Palo. It has the Colt and Remington replicas beat hands down as far as point ability and accuracy.
 
While the Rogers & Spencer does beat both the Colt and Remington in many ways, the original guns were never used in the Civil War.

They arrived too late and were eventually sold off to the general public.

That's why many of the original R&S revolvers are still in such excellent shape. :)
