Ultra Hi kit

Does anyone else have one of these. It's an Ultra Hi by Miroku Japan, 45cal. Kentucky pistol made from a kit. I got it for Christmas about 1975, I think it was in the Sears catalog. The brass was all rough sand cast and I blued the barrel with a chemical bluing. I was 15 then. I refinished the stock last year, and it looks good. The barrel has aged to a blue brown.and the brass has darkened also. I have a Browning Micro Medallion that is also made by Miroku.

I believe I have the same pistol that I finished for my father in the mid seventies. I have recently refinished it after I found it in his closet. It has never been fired and seems to be of good quality. Have you fired yours? How does it work?

I had one that was only marked "Japan". It had the same lock, low brass front sight and unique rifling to match an Ultra Hi Miroku Kentucky rifle that I also had. But this looked like it was definitely built from a kit because the hammer was just a little bit out of alignment with the nipple and would only strike the nipple on the lip. Plus the barrel was unfinished and in the white with only some varnish on it. But it did have what looked like a factory finished stock.
I only shot the pistol on one occassion and while the trigger pull was a little heavy, it did fire reliably each and every time.

Ya, I used to shoot it back then. Didnt have a measure so I'd fill a 45acp shell with 3f, couldn't hit the broad side of a barn standin' inside it. But it is fun to shoot. I cleaned it and fired it twice last year. then refinished it. the one end of my ramrod pulled off so I have to get another dowel to fix it. Then I'll probably carry it in late muzzelloader season.

I have one it has a 45 pound triger. can the triger be made better in this thing?

I believe so, because the Ultra Hi Rifle had the same percussion lock and about a 5 pound trigger, while the pistol's was about 10.
