John,

It was a small pattern file, the name is [Heller-AM SWISS, #13 S.S.A. CUT 2] I sharpend the end square an thr edge at the tip. The guy that showed me used sharpened dental tools. This file works much better for me.

I will post a picture, that will save 400 words.

The deer is from an old Reminton catalog, if anyone knows what year, that will tell me when I made the horn, about 84 I'm guessing.

I find the interchangeable barrels facinating. I'm considering gettin' a couple of others for mine. I've got a 20" .36 caliber barrel now, and would like about a 26 or 28" .50. Cal., and something in .36 or .40 for offhand targets. :redthumb:

Scrounger,

If you have a two pc.[slip joint] longbow in the 55 lb. and 64"s long.............maybe I could help you out

Slamfire,
My next barrel will probably be a .40 cal.

My first barrel was half a 42"er x 36 cal. Buggy rifle! I had a very old can of FFF goex and she shot great, when that can run out, the barrel never shot as well.

Unfortunately I can't get any black locally, and everything else is geared to .45 and .50+ cal in lines, I only found one can of FFFg and that was 777. I've not had too much luck with it in my .50, but hope springs eternal. :winking:

I have a slip joint Pacific Yew t/d in new condition, #56@28in. 62", this is a beautiful bow, shot very little, as i have about 20 bows, many which are selfbows that i made.I dont know what your underhammers may be worth as i am just getting back into blackpowder after 20 years absence, but this is a #700.00 bow new, it was made in 2003, and ive shot maybe 100 arrows thru it. It is made by Jay St.Charles, and signed by him and his father Glenn.
