Hi guys, I'm about to build an H&A underhammer rifle from Pecatonica River Long Rifle Supply. It will have a 32" Green Mountain barrel and I will fit a Lyman globe front sight and a Lyman adjustable full buckhorn rear sight. But I would like to also fit a quickly detachable peep sight too! Any ideas please?.........Cheers......Richard T. (clayman49).

You could use a detachable target rifle sight. Mounting base is attached to the left side of the receiver, sight clamps to that. Easy to remove and replace, holds zero.
A vintage Lyman or Redfield would work.

Hi, thanx for taking the time to reply. But I should have asked for specifics, i.e. make & model. I'll have a look though! Cheers.....Richard T.

I'd scrap the globe and buckhorn combo. Neither was meant to work with the other. A more traditional set up might work better.

If I remember right it's the Redfield 75 match sight that is removable but attaches to the rifle with a more or less permanently attached base. Such a base could be adapted or made up to fit. You see these on ebay all the time. I have one and the base is flat were it touches the receiver and can be mounted on most any flat sided receiver. Some of the H&A style receivers have been made flatter on the side than the originals. What about yours?

Hi there Kansas Volunteer, thank you for your input, but sorry I'm no traditionalist and I'm not into seriouse club rules!
I spent 15 years shooting trap under the MLAIC rules! I'm now with a club that shoots anything black powder in the same event. That's cartridge, slug & round ball, all in the same event!
Any way, I don't compete against other people, only me, I'm just trying to be best I can. It's all practice for when I go bush to bring the meat home.
Unfortunately, my eyes are not the best, but I'm trying to stay away from optics, hence a peep sight quest.
I've found a few Redfield peeps, just trying to find one on Ebay that will send to NZ lol.

Cheers.......Richard T.

Hi,
Here is an H&A underhammer with Lyman model 66 mounted to the side of the barrel with 2 screws.

montana vintage arms makes great sights. I have taken their bases and bent them to fit various ML.

Not sure how it would work with an underhammer. I have a buddy that I believe has a MVA on his underhammer. If you are interested in talking to him, shoot me your email and I will get the two of you hooked up.

MVA sights come off their bases with one screw. Quick and easy.
