A few weeks ago several of you posted places that make unplated screws. I had them all saved on my laptop but it crashed.

could you please list the places you know of.
I know gun suppliers have them but the you listed were much cheaper. Yea I a tight wad :surrender:

Thanks

Jack

I'm sure Track of the wolf was one.

you can also hit your plated screws hard with a torch to bring them around.

I used to come across old fashioned nails and
saved as many as I could get. They make perfect
bolts when cleaned up....slotted wood screws I
also tried saving....nothing lasts as long as you
need it to.

You can also take plated steel screws (just make sure they're steel - I take a cheap magnet along with) and remove the plating by heating with a torch until red hot or soaking in muriatic acid for a couple of hours at most and then neutralizing - as always take proper precautions when working with acids or flame.

I buy mine at ACE hardware. Unplated wood screws with a single slot.

To remove the zinc just put them in some hydrochloric acid for about 10 minutes. You can buy it at the hardware store. What bothers me about the screws they sell is the slots are off center.
