I hope this is okay to post in this section. I would like to hear from any Canadian builders who have purchased a kit from the good ol' US of A recently. I am wondering if there have been any issues at the border or if any additional monies had to be paid as in duties?? Thank you..............................Chawbeef.

i buy parts from TOW. and so far i have not had any issues. i think it has a lot to do with the supplier and how the parts are presented on the invoice.
i think the question should be asked to the vendor you wish to purchase the kit from. i would think they would know if they are able to export to Canada.
as far as taxes. i think that any products coming into canada are subject to GST.
as far as duty . i think that USA produced items and marked as Made in the USA are not subject to duty charges.
BUT.
don't trust my answer. do more investigation. its just from the experience i have had.

Roper is correct. Under the Canadian Criminal Code and the Firearms Act a flintlock is an antique, not a firearm. The gov’t did that so staff at historic forts wouldn’t need a license for live fire demonstrations. I’ve ordered kits and complete guns from the US with no issues, just GST. Caplocks are a different story.

No issues at all with the flintlocks? Often wondered about that. I had a chance to get a Pennsylvania rifle from a friend but didn't want any hassles.

Thanks for all the answers. I guess I am more concerned about taxes and duties at the border. Just that much more to budget for. I have built 2 rifles but would like a Kibler kit.........................Chawbeef
