Ok fellas, time for a new debate in here. Does the use of american pioneer powder alleviate the cylinder binding problems of a remington revolver?

Can't say about a Remington replica but I use it in my New Model Russian which has a VERY tight BC gap and it doesn't bind up the gun. Tried real BP, 777 and Pyrodex and couldn't get thru a full cylinder without binding. APP will get me thru a full day cowboy shoot and then some.

Thanks for the input bill, have you seen a major difference in ignition between app and other subs?

Most of my experience with APP has been with cartridge guns (44 Russian, 45LC, 38 Special). I've done a little bit with C&B. It does seem to like a lot of compression in a C&B or you get punky sounding loads, similiar to Pyrodex. When I load it in cartridges I give it a good 1/8" of compression.

The nice thing about cap and ball revolvers is they have "inline" ignition. Most any powder will go off with a standard #10 or #11 cap.
