Hi all I bought a Ten. Mt. rifle monday it didn't look to bad no rust in the upper part of the barrel that I could see. Started to cleand it this afternoon and about 2/3 down it was in bad shape. so was using some steel wool on it to clean the crud out and I didn't think that I sounded right when the ram rod hit on the bottom started looking into it more and it had a charge of powder in the barrel just goes to show you ya need to look things over close and not take things for granted that they are fine. Also just to ask the berrel is 15/16 across the flats if the berral is bad can it be bored to 54 cal? thanks tom

the reason that I was asking is that my GPR has 15/16 and they come in .54 but maby I am wrong about the size of barrel on .54 GPR.

Yes it could be , but dont count that barrel out yet.I'll bet abit of elbow grease will get 'er goin agin

I would think that would be a bit small for a .54...
I'd get it checked out, or get another barrel made for it...
FYI, I have 2 GM .54cal barrels...both are 15/16"

thanks guys the steel wool made it feel a lot batter then when I started I still feal a little drag when I push a tight patch down but not as bad as I though it might be. I hope to be out shoting this weekend but the weather is getting bad here rain all day and such but will try. I only want one more muzzle loader thats .58 or .72 dubble gun. I thing I can save the money up so I can get it this time next year well have a good evening tom

Take a jag one size smaller than your rifle- if your rifle is a .50 use a .45 jag and a green scotchbrite thats oiled to clean up that bore. short strokes to work the whole barrel. You might be surprised at the results!
