Here’s some of what’s wrong with our USPS. Postmaster General’s response to questions posed to him recently by congress.

Other problem areas are; random inept lazy employees and self appointed activists bent on making their own laws regarding firearms regulations.
T-Ball anyone?

When I ship a cap-n-ball revolver I put it in a box that does not look like a pistol box. And if they ask, I tell them it's a Holley carburetor. I just tell the truth on the little kiosk that asks the basic safety questions.

I guess printing out the regulations to show them wrong would be futile and cause them embarrassment therefore making them dig their heels in even deeper. Might try writing your displeasure to your local Congressman about your PO refusing to provide you legal service. Sometimes a letter of inquiry from their office to the local Postmaster will get you their cooperation. From what I understand written letters get more personal attention and a possible response then being overlooked in the overwhelming flood of easier sent emails, only cost you a stamp to see. Keep us posted😅
YMMV
I’d call the postal inspectors along with the stuff above

I got a label in a clear plastic bag in my mailbox. Had a number to call. I knew what it was because I was waiting for it. It was a bp revolver. I called the number and it was the main hub about 20 miles from me. They asked me to describe what it was. I did, they told me to come pick it up and be sure to have my ID. I went to go pick it up, showed them the label and my ID. They handed me a busted up box and the revolver laying on top. No questions asked. The lady actually told me it was not illegal to ship such items.
This was last year in April.
You got lucky. One poster said a postal inspector and some cops showed up at his house with his pistol….🥺

In terms of declaring contents, the only thing I have seen from the USPS when shipping anything is asking if there is anything perishable or flammable, or something else like that. That’s when you have to acknowledge via digital yes or no. I have not seen anything that asks if it’s a ML rifle.

Truck parts. 😁

I got into a heated debate with a head postal idiot who happened to be a neighbor about this even before all this shipping debate started then I just started to lie and say it was a custom built something or another fn liberal POS !

Recently I posted about an attempt to ship a BP revolver. The agent pulled out his rule book and it said it was only possible between FFL to person. Lond guns were no problem.

I took it to another PO and did not say what it was, it went and arrived in four days.

Don't ask, don't tell
USPS is not permitted to ask you what is in the box. Only allowed to ask if it’s hazardous etc.

My local PO refused to ship a pellet rifle! Miss Mammeries refuses to ship unless it’s FFL to FFL. If you argue and get too mean, she calls the cops who are ALL on her side for two obvious reasons……
Make a complaint formally to the Postmaster General. She will get to have a remedial class and a reprimand.

Had to do this twice before. Squeaky gets taken care of.

Read the just out news articles about gang members getting PO jobs to steal mail. I guess they don’t do very detailed background checks anymore. Mostly after business checks and credit cards, but also SMALL HEAVY PACKAGES.
