ff..The bluing is removed with the naval jelly.
I bought mine in the automotive dept of the local farm supply store..comes in a gel spray bottle..do this out side or over a laundry sink..easier to rinse off. Takes the bluing off--for stubborn areas do it twice..rinse well and your ready to go.
Vinegar will do the same--don't forget to plug all barrel openings before hand--don't forget the threaded screw holes plug them with bees wax.
Just spray or brush on some Jelly give it some time..your going to get a rotten egg smell during the process...Some in the white finished barrels a left just this way.
