Wedge pin insertion- Right to Left or Left-Right ?

I have two wedges on my favorite rifle? Do I put one in on the left side and the other in on the right? LOL!

I once owned Hall Sharon's personal Hawken Rifle with two wedges. One was fitted for the right side and one was fitted for the left side.

My wife's original 1845 Wurflein has 2 "wedges" that fit in from the left side. Looking at 2 original 1805 Harper's Ferry pistols also insert from the left side.

The Keys on all my British guns ( Flint thru' to CBL's and even 2 early Unmentionables') go Left to Right. I follow that on my own Replicas.. O.D..

If I'm shooting quick (on a hunt), the front wedge goes left to right (that's where my palm rides) if I'm shooting on the range or "wall hanging" they both go from the right.
