I just received my Uberti 1851 London Navy, I forgot, so please set me straight; when removing the wedge pin is it necessary to loosen the screw on the left side above the wedge? :idunno:

It has been about ten years since I shot my Walker and I can't remember.

A mind is a terrible thing to loose.

You shouldn't have to loosen any screws.

A mind is a terrible thing! :shocked2:

Actually, it depends upon how tight the clearance is to the wedge. On some of my Colt replicas, it's easier to just remove it, and put a drop of oil on it after the rest of the gun is cleaned, and then reinstall the screw after replacing the wedge. Other Colts require the screw to be there to re-assemble properly, so it could go either way :idunno: .

Ditto to what Dave said. On my '51 Navy the screw head is tight against the wedge spring. Backing it out 2 or 3 turns allows the wedge to move freely.

Well, after my cleaning session today with the 1851 NAVY, I have come to the conclusion that it don't make a whole lot of difference about the screw, doesn't seem to make any difference on how hard the wedge comes out :hmm:

My problem now is that CCI #10's are too small and the Remington # 11's are to big :surrender:

My, how much fun can one have trying to send a ball down the range

No cappers I have fit the Pietta 1858, and no primers fit the Uberti 1851 Navy

This ain't as much fun as I remembered

It sounds like you need to change your nipples. You may also try RWS 1075 caps and see how they work.

I was just going to type the exact same thing! The RWS 10 3/4 size will probably work. Or you can turn-down the nipples in a vise or just replace them all. Then it gets real easy!
