Let's see... racoon, feral pigeons, crows, lots of chipmunks(exelent with tomato sauce over spagheties),squirrels (read and black),buffalo, more birs than I have names for...
Earth worms with some kind of eggs (shell and all :barf: ) at survival training.
But the worst I remember was in the army ,when we had to wrestled the rotting raw flesh(somethig very dead) from thousands of flys or risk starvation.I could't stomach that so I burnt this #$5@! on a stick over a can stuffed with rags and diesel fuel.Lets just say that is perfect to invite your mother in law for dinner :rotf:

After the movie "Rambo" where the statement was made "he'll eat stuff that will make a billygoat puke..." well that was the challange my friend and I took seriously.
After the typical porqupine and possune delights we worked to and stoped at a buzzard; right offa road kill. started cleaning it and maggots started squirming back outta its mouth. Game over!

I am sure, somewhere in the world, this would be considered a delicacy! :rotf:

...but not on my watch!

I have claimed a few rattlesnakes from eagles and hawks though.

I grew up on a farm so I have ingested quite a variety of winged, four-legged, legless and finned creatures. Muskrat, beaver, raccoon, goat, sheep, horse, carp, channel cat, smelt, mudshark, crawdads, octopus, squid, sea urchin, grasshopper, rattlesnake, grouse, pheasant and guinea fowl. A few years ago I had the opportunity to eat muktuk, or fermented whale blubber. Tasted kind of like well aged uncooked bacon without the salt. I have also eaten raw salmon and steelhead eggs and herring roe.

Meat's meat, as they say.

Claude, Where on earth did you find that picture?
My wife thinks I'm insane because I just busted a gut laughing out of the blue. Then I went one step further and mentioned her cooking. Probably not the best idea on valentines day.

:rotf: :rotf: :rotf: Love the pic.

After following this thread for almost a month and reading what's been eaten, Horseshoe Crab seems to be pretty mild cuisine compared to bugs and other critters mentioned. :barf: :rotf:

Hello Fellas
Well I lived outside of a northern town in central Ontario, for 15 years. There I had the pleasure of eat'en (because a trapper befriended me)beaver, Muskrat, Coon. I also shot and consummed Deer ,bear, ground hog, Moose, porky-pine,geese, ducks, black birds, both red and black squirel. I fished or caught and consummed fresh water clams, snapping turtle, almost any fish that is caught there (loved dawg fish, known as ling). My favorite by far was snapping turtle, and a rattle snake (this was given to me by an american friend)... ...
Well there you go...Most of these we cooked both outside over a fire and inside in a wood stove
my best regards a loyalist Dawg :hatsoff:

Dawg,
I have ate everything on your list but
porky pine&blackbirds. I am pleased to see
oposum is not on your list.I personally have
two favorites on your list....turtle and bear
meat plus another I would add is frog meat. Not just legs but the two
pieces of meat off each side of their back.
I also really like rattle snake when done
right. Not deep fried but over an open fire.

I'm always open to suggestions and value our member's opinions. Why is a bloody dead deer less offensive than a dead dog? After all, this is a photo of a woman preparing a meal, no different than placing a rabbit, squirrel or lobster in a pot. At least the dog is dead, the lobster would be boiled alive.
