I just got a used Western Arms Hawken and have a couple of questions about it. I believe they were made in the early 1980's. It is marked 54 cal. but actually requires a 52 cal. ball. Does anyone know what is the thread size of the percussion nipple? Does anyone know where a spare main spring can be purchased? Thanks.

Someone posted a link for obsolete parts about a month ago....thought I bookmarked it but I can't find it....hopefully it will get posted again as I also need some stuff.

I have one that I bought back in the eighties. Yes they need a .520 ball because they are really 53 caliber. I had to drop to a .515 and a .024 denim patch because a .520 with a .018 patch would burn through periodically with a 50 grain target load. Now I can put five shots on top of one another at 50 yards off the bench.

I broke a main lock spring a few months back. I found a replacement at VTI. I got springs for both an older and newer lock. Both fit my older lock fine.

The nipple size is 6-.75mm. I picked mine up at TOW.

Thanks for the info Mike. I have not yet shot it but picked up some .52 balls and will see if I can located the bullseye.

The link you put up shows wrong, who is it again? Fred :hatsoff:

Here is the link to some Uberti Hawkens Parts:

Or, if the link doesn't work, start at https://www.vitgunparts.com and click through the site until you get to Uberti's Santa Fe Hawken. It is in the Uberti's rifle section.
