I’m looking to get info for a good Turkey load in my 20 gauge smoothbore. Also is copper plated shot safe to use?

Square load of 2oz copper plated #5 over 5drams 2f.

I know nothing about copper plated shot.
I now use 70 grains 2f behind a hindered and ten grain by volume of # 4 or #5
I use folded brown paper 2x1 as wad top and bottom. I think 110 grains by volume is 1.5 oz.
Last year killed a turkey with primitive shot made by dribbling lead in water, ran two Oz of that

Is that in 20 gauge? What’s your specific way to load it?

Nice!

Too many turkeys where I used to live, I used to hunt them as a favor to a farmer friend. I've taken 9 or 10 with my Belgian SxS 11 gauge, or my Brown Bess carbine. Load was always 70 gr FFg, 2 card wads, 1 1/4 oz shot, 1 card wad. Longest shot I took was about 15 yards, so my load is probably not much help!

Yes a twenty.
Powder, paper folded then rammed home and re rammed to make sure edges are flat. Shot then paper agains rammed twice, or just tapped several times with rod to ensure done.
Learned it from Dualist 54 Mike belivue, works well

Sorry, I missed your 20ga. My bad.
I has a 19b percussion single the I use 1oz over 2.5drams of 2f..
So far, it must be bad luck as I can’t seem to find birds when I carry it.

I haven't had a 20 for about that many years but if I remember correctly I used 80 gr's. ff, heavy card, cushion wad pared down to about 3/16" thick, the same powder measure used for powder, used for shot ( a mixture of #4 & #6, cuz it was free and thats what I had), over shot card. Never lost a bird! Wish I had kept the gun, hah, like I need another one.

Fowler 20 gauge. 90 grains of FFg, over powder wad. 1/2" cushion wad, 1 3/4 #5, over shot card. One head shot at about 25 yards. Two birds that year. 2021

I use only original SxSs so I don't load really heavy. About 60 grs of 2F with 1 1/4 oz of #6 shot. That load has taken everything from rabbits to turkey. The best turkey shot was a couple of years ago and I wasn't even hunting turkey. I was hunting rabbits with a couple of buddies using beagles, it was fall turkey season also and I had a tag. The dogs flushed a small flock of turkeys and one flew straight at me the load from my ML folded it in mid-air.
