Just to mention to the OP, if the nails you got have a dark blueish color to them, I believe they are the same ones I got with a few of my parts kits. I am pretty sure they are "hardwood finishing nails" made by Maze (not Mazen)corp. They are actually a very good nail, I used them on a few wood projects

Thanks for all the info guys. I looked everywhere around here for the music wire and couldn't find it. I ended upordering some. 3 pieces 3 ft long for $1.97 plus shipping. I got .078 or 5/64 diameter. Alittle thicker than the 1/16 but not as thick as those big pins you get from TOW. Ishould have enough for many future builds to come. Thanks again. Andy

I don't want to step on any toes here but I have found that cloths hanger wire works very well for barrel pins and such. plus it's free.

I've used nails and assorted wire from obscure sources and decided on 1/16" dia. piano or music wire because it's less expensive considering the prep of a nail....cutting off the head, straightening and making them round. Various other wires also require paint or coating removal and sizing to accommodate a standard drill size. Long ago I decided to take the "easy way" in many matters and although some of the "how to" books still promote the use of labor intensive nails, the use music or piano wire is a "no brainer" solution.....Fred

Maze nails are just about the last nails made in the USA. They are good quality nails, and relatively expensive. Just about ALL other nails are made in Communist China now.

I come from a family of carpenters and woodworkers. I have boxes of junk with lots of old nails in them.
