I agree current scabbard is hard to use cause its soft. Wish i had skill to do a brass throat.

Theres a big Tandy Leather in Eugene. May drop by there and see what they have.

Lord knows how many knives I have. Most are in the kitchen and were purpose built decades ago of carbon steel.
Knives in my outdoor kit are mostly carbon and you can see their functions in their designs,
This knife that started this string? Not sure how I would use it or why I would want it.

If you had a chance to hold it with the new guard youd understand. Same strange vibes as the spooky old 58 Remington i keep out in the shed.

Well showed to wife who held it for like a millisecond, handed it back and promptly banished it to the out building with the stuff that makes her uncomfortable. FWIW Checked on the 58 Remington and the radium dial aircraft instruments and two other blood guns we store out there. I am super surprised that with all this rain my special take on Eds Red has kept rust away in a high humidity unheated sea shipping container. .

Speaking of ugly I tossed this together a couple weeks ago for the fun of it.

Beaver tail laminated to leather. No fringe but scalloped white brain tan trim with brass tacks to hold it in place.
