I’d guess my 2nd choice would be Sir Samuel Baker’s 2 bore “baby”. I had a Rodda 4 bore double years ago that came with brass and hammer loading tools, lead bullet mold, copper sheet discs to swage over the lead ( you brought it back to the top of the swage and used a small brass hammer to close it up then shoved it back through on a monster sized gas check. The swage was a big cast iron floor mounted contraption with a 34 in. Lever. (.935). 23-24 lbs loaded and still smacked you pretty hard. But I’d still give baby a try.

An original J & S Hawken .... at an Elk [never got a chance to shoot one of those critters]. Polecat 🦨
Dale, come up this next fall and i will rope up an elk for you! not literally of course but we could find one! have 3 empty bedrooms and a bag of oatmeal!

the rifle i would like to shoot was on Lexington green on April 19 1775 in the hands of my wife's ancestor.
