I made a couple of holsters for an 1858 Rem similar to those worn by Josie Wales. Strong side and cross-draw. Plus a small pouch to hold a couple extra cylinders and a small tin of caps.

I have a pair of Triple K Slim Jim Hickok holsters from Cabelas. They are functional but the feel cheap.
I plan to try my hand at stamping them and changing the color one of these days. Reading the reviews on Cabelas a few folks have played with customizing them a bit. Most of my C&B revolver shooting is done in my backyard and holsters are important for dragging guns around. I find a pair revolvers is just as time consuming to clean as 1 is.

Picked up a Galco model 1880's holster for my Uberti 1873 - this is a nice holster:

Also have a Flap Holster for my 1858 Remington. This is also a nice heavy leather holster:

I bought this one from Fall Creek Suttlery 18 years ago.

Guys NICE holsters and guns! Thanks for the ideas, guys.

I have a plan to get a Civil War carbine cartridge box and cut a custom wood block to hold paper cartridges for my revolver and still have room left in the box for caps, tools, patching etc.

Stay tuned guys!

That's a great idea. If you carried a pistol you probably would have been cavalry and carried a carbine box. I have a couple of CW pistol cartridge boxes but I have found them to be nearly useless for anything. Don't forget a musket cap pouch for your carbine, you'll find it very handy for small items like caps, nipple wrench, etc..

I agree! Originally the civil war issued pistol boxes were made to hold 2-3 boxes or bundles of cartridges and not much else. For loose cartridges and tools, it is both too thin and deep to be of any real use. I plan to get an 1860 carbine cartridge box and make a block to hold around a dozen or possibly morem(if there is room enough for three rows of cartridges) and should still leave plenty of room for a small oil bottle, patches (the block can rest on top of those I think), cleaning rod sections, brushes and jags, nipple wrench, pick, etc. and they have a small pocket in from to hold other tools.

Uberti Colt 1860 Army, El Paso Saddlery 1870 Slim Jim holster, 3" wide web Prairie belt by D. Carrico.

I like being able to use the same belt on different holsters and the wide webbing is one of the most comfortable gun belts I`ve worn.
