So I just found this on an auction site labeled as a "musket"...and thats all...but I have no idea what it is...can anyone offer
suggestions...Thanks

Snider Enfield , original British cal. was 577 x .450. Fine military rifle in it's day. (Not sure of the shot gun ga.'s this gun was later converted into .) There was a Zulu war movie made titled , " The Battle of Rourke's Drift ", using this rifle specifically , as the British defense arm. Good movie ,good actors , true historical narrative story .................One of my favorite movies............oldwood

It's neither a Snider nor an Enfield. The .577/450 was never chambered in the Snider. It was in the Martini-Henry.

And now we've gone way off topic for the forum.
 
Off topic but a necessary warning- these will chamber a modern 12 gauge cartridge, and probably blow up in the process. Mods, excuse the violation, but in the name of safety, please post this.
