Title says it all. What mistakes have you noticed in movies/tv shows that happen in the BP era like Daniel Boone, Patriot etc? Eventhough they try not to slip anachronisms, sometimes you can spot things that just don't fit with the era or even something in the background or an actor who forgot to take off his watch or whatever. Next weekend being Canada Day, I'm gonna have a 3 days weekend and have a second look at one or two movies and try to spot mistakes, out of place or out of period things for fun.

We were watch a foreign tv series on tv last night set in the 18th century. One of the characters who is nobility was shooting flintlock pistols at targets. I heard the boom and saw the bottle break but there was no pan flash or smoke. The frizzen didn’t pop open either.

Young Guns II: Upstairs in the burning house there was a brick chimney. When the gang bumped into the solid brick chimney, it moved.

Ravenous: The military unit was moving through the snow covered woods. One soldier stepped in a pile of snow. The snow shifted. It was a white blanket.

1960 Alamo: Not one muzzle stuffing reload in the entire movie. Plenty of flints hitting plenty of frizzens too. With no smoke.

The Last of the Mohicans: In the opening scene they ran down an elk and shot it. At the top of the hill, a member of the film crew got caught out in the open and quickly retreated out of sight.

There are dozens and dozens of these examples. And always funny when they present themselves.

A lot actually,, across all of that era's genera,,
But I have chosen to be entertained by the actors, stunt work and Writers/Directors of that era's Hollywood's presentation.
Those guy's actually worked hard to stunt the cameras,, Oop's happens.
They didn't have CGI until after Y2K that really worked well (if you know film)

There is a scene in LOTM where you can see the busses the extras rode to the outdoor shoot, and another where you can seen an airstream trailer

In Jamestown tv series, no hats for men ; no caps for the women, the poorest of the three main women characters isn't wearing a shift

Black Sails the blonde female star is always wearing an open blouse but she never fries in the sunlight of the Caribbean Sea. The male actor with the short hair and zipwaxed chest ; the male character with the mullet and rock-n-roll sunglasses.

Frontier TV series with Jason Momoa using bloody stupid handled knives as his signature weapon, soooo poorly thought out that he couldn't have actually used them in real life...

Hollywood thinks that outlandish stuff looks cool, so they will go to a LOT of trouble on balderdash costuming, BUT when you bring up how historically it should have been done, folks will tell you that doing such is too difficult, or too expensive, or both.... YEAH RIGHT
