Thank you gents. Its a '62 and a true survivor. I picked it up from a customer when I was working at the Telco. For $450. It was sitting on 4 flats, sunk in the dirt, and had the windshield shot out of it...A little work and she is about the sweetest running little ol truck I have ever had. The 292 just ticks away. 3 on the tree is good and tight, just snaps into the gears. Cruises comfortably at speed, and the brakes are fantastic. Even has the factory Ford fog lites.
I had a 62 model with the same motor, but if I remember right the steering box had a lot of slack in it and it was cold natured with a manual choke. I kept it until a wild fire got the best of it on the back part of my property when I was out of town.

today i built a ram rod for my combo rifle/shotgun.
it had one for the shotgun barrel but the rifle barrel rod was fatally molested by termites or mice chewing for the old lube.
that it seems is all i did at all today.
If I can get anything accomplished each day, then it's a good day, and if I can do it by spending time in my little shop that's a big plus. Even the little things are counted in my book these day's.

Obligatory hero pic.

Sitting in the woods with my GPR hoping a deer strolls by and listening to some jackwagon across the lake blowing leaves since 8 am. 🙄
Ain't that the worst. PETA Trash and Antis use this tactic a lot.

They'll fire those noisy things up before dawn and near sunset. Another tactic is banging on trash can lids. Driving up and down roads honking horns. Walking through public land making a racket.

PETA Trash and Antis are the lowest form of scum on the planet.

Got some 10' Delrin rods from Professional Plastics to make some Hvy Duty rods & cut down to two 36" + one 48". Delrin Rod - sold by the foot.

Ordered some more original parts for the 1842.
Got to confess that the replacement nipple is modern manufacture.
what length does that delrin rod ship in? if i were to order 24 feet, what length would it come as?
thanks for the link, this forum just keeps on costing me money!

Fit a Delrin rod to my longrifle. Also pinned the tip onto it because it didn't appear to be pinned when I got it.

Tip: If you lightly sand a brown Delrin rod with 220 grit paper it gives it a faux grain and doesn't look as plasticky, at least from a few feet.

max length is 10'; they will cut to length desired within reason

when ordering, I did get to talk to customer service at the Carrolton, TX warehouse.
Since shipping was $80something for $75 worth of rods, she said to put in the comments for shipping their address with instructions to send with their office next order. Took longer but no charge for shipping. Their warehouse was 2 miles off from one of the routes that I run to check on home hospice patients so this worked out well for me.

Now a felony in some states. Check your laws.

A little more chisel practice for the 3/8th ramrod. Ground a sharp edge on the long 3/8th drill to use as a scraper. Works really well. Will use the same drill to drill into the belly of the stock. After I make a drill extension for it.

And if you don't have a set of dial calipers, you don't know what you're missing. These were 10 bucks at Horor Freight 15 years ago. Now they're 24 bucks. Inflation. It $uck$.

.038 inches left to go.
