8-14-23 I started with my 4lb pot (lee) .495 round balls 100 or so after mold got going well. Cleaned up a bit looked at my 20lb bottom pour said why not? LEE R.E.A.L 320 grain for .50 cal couple hundred, then sprew screw backed out on me, changed gears to .451 did 100 or so of those. rained all day here had nothing to do.so threw lead into molds

Getting ready for another River Boat Tour group this past Saturday.
Roughly 50 folks got to hear about the harsh frontier life, frontier Indian wars and the history of the owner/builder of this cabin in 1786...

I finally got around toit’!

I had installed a new German silver front sight on my old Spanish.45 cal pistol and finally made time too shoot it..
The gun fired on every hammer fall , but I’ve got some adjustments too make.
I’m gonna run a few more rounds thru it before any filing…

My eye really likes the German silver front sight..👍

Burned a little powder in my Kibler this morning before it got too hot. A little North Breeze in South Texas mean no wind off the Gulf this afternoon or for the next couple of days. 105 today, forecast 106 tomorrow, 108 on Thursday.
Kinda takes away from the whole muzzleloader experience when its past 102.
Oh well.

Took the .375 smooth bore out for a test run using the 265 grain, .376 bullets.

I'm not going to say accuracy was bad, because it was outstanding.

The only problem was the holes in the target were as wide as the bullets and as long as the bullets.

I could have achieved greater stability by stacking tumbleweeds on top of the powder instead of lead.

Some brilliant soul on this forum recommended sending it out and having it rebored and rifled.

I'm thinking .45 with a 1:28 or 1:48 twist. And with a .45 bore I can use it as the tap drill size for a 1/2-20 breech plug.

I'll still have the existing .45 in 1:66 for PRB. And the 16ga barrel too.

Fun. Fun. Fun.

Shot the Colt 1860 to test the Mike Belliveau hammer mods and had a good time, not so such because the mods worked, but because there were a couple kids there at the handgun range who knew nothing about cap 'n ball black powder revolvers, and so I had a chance to introduce them and give them each a chance to shoot my gun, after a brief revolver handling tutorial. I think they had a blast (literally and figuratively) and hopefully enlarged their firearms knowledge and also maybe made a couple black powder converts. Fun times for one and all.

I put my Pedersorry into the vice this morning. I had enough time to take a rough 3/16" off the top of the comb. I have sanded it smooth. I will take a good look over the next day or 2, make sure its down enough that horrible roman nose is as flat n straight as i can get it.
i sit back and look at what you guys are doing to your muzzle loaders.ive hunted all my life and shot a lot of muzzleloaders.ive only shot caplocks.the guys ive hunted with were just like me.we thought we were daniel boone.we bought caplocks and shot them just like they were made from factory.some were good and others were a mess.lol. ive never ever shot a round ball. guess what?all this i see on here got me to want more. so now ive got my balls to shoot.right now all i got for powder is pyrodex.we were told when we were shooting that black powder was corrosive.that was before i got on here.thank each and everyone of yaw for what you do on here.i really so appreciate all the information.im sort of the sit back and listen type of person. i dont do a lot of talking about things i dont know about.thank yaw so much for all that you do

yesterday i poured a nose cap on my whatzit 30cal flintlock.
today i shaped it and refinished the forearm. not top shelf but i think the nose cap is an improvement.

Will I ever fire it, who knows. Ha ha makes a change working on its bullet mold. I also epoxied on a mount so I can use a red dot to experiment. Could be fun.

As the Battle of Charolette reenactment approaches, I got inspired to do a horn referencing the actions of 1781 in the Carolinas. I think this will be a very cool horn.
Well, about seven hours later I got a bit done on this horn, and time for a break. My shoulder muscle is killing me!
