Just back from shooting. I ended up with only 4 pigeons. Two problems, firstly, it turns out that the Brown Bess won't go off if you forget to put the powder charge in, secondly, I am sure they can hear me capping the sxs. Whilst I am loading they all flock round and sit in the trees above me, right up to the point I fit the caps when they vanish immediately.

Cleaned my .54 Navy Arms Hawken rifle.

Fired the rifle yesterday at 50 yards. The rifle is capable of very good groups but the cross wind was blowing 15 mph and gusting to about 30 mph. After firing 15 rounds i gave it up. The best was three out of five shots in about a 1.5 inch group.

Finally got to shoot the Pedersoli 10 ga. SxS. Have some work to get a good Turkey pattern but having fun doing it :D

I also took my TC Hawken to try some round balls with the new powder I acquired. I love shooting that gun.

Tripped over my 30lb ingots of pure lead trying to figure out how to cut them down… again…
have used sawzall, band saw, skil saw. and hand saw.

today i hardened a frizzen. musta worked . no spark before and good spark now. also reshaped it while i had it glowing.
polished a couple tumblers. getting parts ready to build the Tennessee Classic that Fedex finally delivered.
thought about soldering a underrib to my .32 whatzit but ran out of steam early today.

Tried to make some GOOD bullets for my Whitworth - round ones, this time - using a mould recently acquired. Obviously there is a knack to doing it that I have yet to acquire - I cast sixty-seven bullets, of which twenty-three were good enough to size and, maybe tomorrow, get around to shooting. Practice makes perfect, and I've been practicing since the end of 1968..............................
