What Muzzleloading Stuff Did You Do Today?

I smoked them! Also they had suppressors on their little guns and were wanting to shoot without ear protection. 75 grains of BP changed that. Now you may think I was being mean but there is a range at the club dedicated to rimfire weapons. They chose to come over to the big boy range with their rimfires and then complained about my smoke 'n noise!

When in doubt, smoke 'em out.

I got the lock in place and a trigger working. Ignore the barrel fit, it does go all the way down in the channel. The trigger was tough because this lock requires the trigger to push back against the sear bar instead of up.

Put the first coat of Permalyn on my Kibler colonial. It's not the color I was shooting for, but it should be pretty. Pics to follow.

It is called a side slapper or mule ear lock. It cocks out ins of up. When the cap is struck it fires straight into the powder charge because the nipple screws straight into the barrel.

Didn't kill no deer this year, so I am going to try to put a good dent in the squirrel population. This evening I prepped a bit by just messing around with my original Lamb (Jamestown school, NC) rifle that I am going to squirrel hunt with. Needed to get used to aiming it and what not. That long, thick walled straight barrel works well for doing curls and other such lifts. I like to call it gun yoga, and it's my retort to the wife trying to get me to start going to the Y again. Now that deer season's over, time to do some shooting, at least with what little time is afforded me. I will give a range and squirrel hunt report when I can.

Naw brother i dont think u was mean at all.i try not to let people get under my skin. It really takes a lot.but those guys was wrong.you had a right to be there.think honestly i would have been a little ruder to them. Keep that smoke rolling

Was going ask the same question. Dang aint seen one like that before.bet its fast with the fire from the cap going directly to powder charge. Got question. Percusion cap or musket cap

I say “Let ‘em sniff sulfur and put on their ear muffs and their big boy pants.” Geez, what a bunch of _______(fill in the blank.)

Today, I met with a friend who is a builder for some help on my most recent project gun. He explained how some stock making things worked. Basically, he told me to go find something else to worry about. We found that the cap lock gun had a vent. The vent suggested this Tennessee style rifle had be used target shooting in the past. The consensus is the it is a nice older custom made muzzle loading rifle. The rifle has found a home,

drilled and started to tap a hole in the trigger guard i just had to weld back together .
my 10-32 tap snapped below the top of the blind hole. before it bottomed. said some words that aren't acceptable. now standing in the corner reciting, "i will not say f...." 100 times.
emphasis on the offending word while reciting not recommended.
once paroled i cut the bow off the trigger guard and drove the tap out. just got through welding everything back and filing, and filing, and filing. now i can start over polishing the guard. have i ever............

Well Rob did a post for me on shinning up a ruff barrel and when the weather permits I’m gonna give er a go just getting all my ducks in row .
