Is that the "Boss Lady's" carpet you spread those out on? 🤣
naw. that is the faux sheep skin i got from a faux sheep skin store (walmart). used it for prone shooting. comfy.
it used to be a foot longer but muzzle burn caused me to shorten it. that Faux wool got all nobby when it burned.
Walmart said it came from some place down under.

@Rob M I'm curious how you fashion the nails for the butt plate. I'm going to want to make one for the heel of a poor boy 👦.
Hey bud....after some problems with nails backing out I found these smaller nails with ribs on the shaft of the nail , hopefully keep the nails from backing out ,no problems in many years so .... but of course the head of nail is round so I grind the nail heads square on the grinder ... Works good . First few N.W. guns I made I used square shanks nails and ....Wow , that didnt work out at all ....very bad ....Best of luck bud !

Rob, if you run out of ring shanks, take a cold chisel and strike some barbs on regular nails. 2 on one side and 1 on the opposing side works fine.

I changed the add for the CVA Frontier today. I will sell it but would really rather gift it to a youngster just starting out in our addiction. it would be a prime gun to start off with.
anyone have a deserving kid they know of? convince me of their worthiness, ( i am easy) and lets get another going in our hobby.

Cleaned my 1863 with the ballistol I was eagerly awaiting the arrival of from my order.

I had never used it before and it seems to be very effective. I understand it is great for lots of things. I'm thinking it might make a great chain lube for my street legal dirt bike.

For that purpose I had been using an aerosol can of dry wax. I don't think that's really all that great.

Going to take it out and ride a few miles tomorrow to get the chain warmed up and then try the ballistol.

Sure seems to work great for cleaning muzzleloaders

Due to the rain, was restricted to working on the high ground. Started moving all the miscellaneous cross ties that my father had stuffz piled up on to one spot to await drier weather to move them down to build that confounded much delayed stand for the bullet traps. Found he had a stash of the longer switch cross ties that are double length. Lil' blue, my tractor, was doing all it could do just to carry two. Carried it down the quarter mile to the back and was sorely regretting that move about half way down. Was noticing that water was coming out of gopher holes about 6' over from where I was driving it was so wet. Just didn't want to break through that crust or that poor tractor was going to sink to China. Dropped those two off and meandered up the high ground to the hilltop. Called it good enough for one day.

Sunny day, uk Reading about another site trying to make paper sabots So started fiddling. Got several 577s but still have to make a bullet mould. Not paying £50 plus for a Lee mould in Uk. Just almost doubled in price We’re £22. Ball moulds a bit cheaper at £40. I would not mind if the police would allow me to shoot them, they say I might shoot intruders ha ha.

So I rolled and glued 4.75” of .013 lining wall paper around a •490 bullet
Then cut slots with the dremmil
Filled in base and I got a 577 sabot. Not bad I might add, and quick to do, now got to find somebody to test them. What else is there to do at 80. Go shopping with the wife, no thanks Ps should I varnish them ???

Enjoy if you can , my friend does not like sabots but then he don’t shoot muzzle loaders

Awesome! Got me thinking I could do something similar for my Genuine Thompson Center Hawken! 😄👍

If I ever get time, that is.

Banjo man. Two coats of permento green to match wife's Z3 two pack spray can stiffens my paper sabot and all the fluffy bitts it’s quite stiff like plastic My right hand can pluck a chicken but after 10 years not a banjos , life is a struggle at times

Bought a German Cape gun on GunsInternational.
"1880's German Cape Gun made in Braunsweig Germany made by R.L. Rasch (name gold inlaid under right hammer) This highly engraved and gold inlaid firearm is chambered in 10.3mmX60R rifle caliber (.416) and a very rare 20 gauge shotgun barrel." 20ga is 2 3/4" and has been gunsmith to use low AA Target shells. The seller is also including Hornady dies and 50 rounds of rifle ammo and loading data.

I especially love the Circassian Walnut. I get lost in the luminescence.
