Bought some non-lubed patches for the first time. Will try Precision Lube 2000 on one side only next range session.

Shot a new to me Renegade 56 smoothbore. Thought I had it all dialed in for a minute.
Until I put up a fresh target. Hit the back stop five times in a row, I think.
Back to the drawing board and try again some other day......

First group, looking good at 50 yards

Let's get a fresh target. Then this happened.

Received my Kibler SMR kit yesterday and began testing different stains on the cherry wood samples JK was kind enough to send me.

Sighted in 2 Traditions PA pellet 50 cal flintlocks. Both shot about 10 inches high at 50 yards with the rear sight all the way down. They hang fired most of the time even with a 10 gr. starter charge of 3f black. Makes me appreciate my Kibler SMR.

Was thinking this might be the day to shoot my recently acquired Brown Bess carbine but this was the weather I got. Might be a better day to work on a badly needed organization of my muzzleloader accessory storage area, since after my latest purchase (my first smoothbore) , it's no longer feasible to cram everything into my range box. Need to clean some chimneys too....maybe pretending I'm just cleaning some big guns will make that more enjoyable.

Went out and had my first range session since early June. Been physically unable to do this. Today had some aches and pains but it was worth it. Put five shots through a short barrel CVA I got several months ago for the first time today. Worked and shot well. Also shot an unmentionable rifle, check fire, and two unmentionable handguns with a new technique with my arthritic right hand. All went well and it was a day that has gotten me going back on the right track mentally after being disabled for the whole Summer of 2022. Sometimes one just has to let go of the negative and restart the positive. Today was the day.

I'm with you on that, mushka. I became disabled 14 years ago and it's only gotten worse. But we both do what we can.

And today I've done nothing, zilch, zero, nada today' except going on the forums that is.

well one of me has been arguing with the other of me about shooting the new to me Lyman gpr flinter with the never fired .54 barrel on it.
the shooter me won over the seller me.
60 yards
.535 prb
.010 patch with bear oil
54g ff homemade
off a bench cause i was shaking like a leaf.
sticker bull was a 1.5 inch pastie.
this one is staying in my collection.
the clutter on the target was patterning my 11gauge with bismuth. not satisfied with results.
completely forgot, that lowest strike was caused by some dummy dry balling ! took out the vent liner and got 25 grains of fff
behind the ball. bloop!
the other one just below the bull was a 50g load, ran out of powder and had to shake the flask to get 50g.

Recently.....my bride & I attended the 3rd annual Pioneer Flats Shootout in Pennsylvania.
The "Derrick" newspaper reporter from Oil City PA showed up because there were 2 events held at the 2 Mile Run Park that day.
There was a boating regatta on the lake within the park and a black powder shoot.
The reporter/photographer showed up and took lots of pictures for the newspaper and interviewed several shooters for a story. I put a black powder pistol in that fellow's hand & let him try shooting a few.
He loved it.
Below is the story he posted in the newspaper just below the boat regatta story:

Page 5 held a few more pictures. Black Powder Shooting got a lot of exposure that weekend in Franklin Pennsylvania.

We will take any good exposure we can get, right??
My bride and I can't wait to get back over to Franklin PA for the 4th annual Pioneer Flats Shootout.
Keep on shooting my friends....

Since the previous thread was shut down (locked) by our new moderator, I thought I would start one up again, as per the suggestion.
So, let's get this thread going again, and share your muzzleloading related adventures of the day!
Cried a little inside trying to scrimshaw my horn with tendon and wrist pain...that's my day so far lol!
