I'd be walking out with the same gun tomorrow.
Guns that don't shoot straight frustrate me. But I can certainly understand leaving it sit a while, too.
Same gun for me as well, when I am just going to the club to shoot (not a match) it seems I always take the problem child, you know, that one gun that I can not get to shoot a group.

Once I get them figured out and know what they like I write it down on a piece of paper that stays in the bag, then on to the next one.

Sitting in sun with my dremmil sanding my latest, sad to say it’s got to be an inert wall hanger , no police licence at 80

Just finished up shooting for the day. Much, much better than yesterday. Weather is beautiful, clear and quite cool. Took the .45 SMR and only the bare essentials in my bag and a horn of 3F Goex. Was using .440 RBs that I cast a few days ago, 45 grs of powder, and mink oil lubed .015 patches. Shot two, 5 round groups from the bench. First target photo was 25 yrds and the second at 50. Had a flyer on both that was my fault. Swabbed after 5 shots. Then I finally used my woods walk course. It was fun, I shoot my Pedersoli flint offhand, but it’s heavy, not really balanced. The SMR is great offhand, a pleasure to shoot. All the woods walk targets were shot from 30-50 yrds. Had to take one or two extra shots on the longer ones to hit Red. I’m rusty on offhand, so hopefully this will improve my shooting.

took the 100ft tape out in the back yard today. my 30yrd target was @ 29yrds. my 50 yard target was at 43yrds... so much for accurate paceing.... that being said I did hit the 43 yard target two out of 3 times this morning shooting the trapper one handed.

That's pretty funny; at least you have it right now. Judging distance is a skill. My local range has longitudinal mounds at every 50-metre intervals, out to 200 metres. At 200 metres there are two mounds five metres apart. The original mound was found to be five metres short; even surveyors get it wrong!

I use a range finder that I’ve had for years, I assume it’s a laser. Used it for my permanent 50, 100, & 200 yrd target stands on the range. When I first bought my property and got my clearings done and stands built I used it quite a bit, and drove a length of PVC into the ground at 100 & 200 yrds from each stand. (I don’t just hunt with MLs) But now that I know where everything is I don’t use it anymore, but they’re handy for new projects and territory.

In the aftermath of last week's blizzard, we finally got plowed out, so I decided to kill a gallon milk jug. Have been playing with the 3f Swiss powder I recently received... so far I like it. Seems a bit cleaner than what I am used to and of course, much more reliable than Pyrodex or Triple 7. This target is 70 yards out, you can see it low and to the right side of that snow "mountain" down range. 70 grains of 3f Swiss. .50 caliber T/C Hawken with QLA muzzle. 250 grain .45 caliber bullet in a "wooden shoe". Sight is a Williams FP-Hawken. Barrel had been cleaned a few days ago and greased with Bore Butter. Did not try to remove the Bore Butter before this shot. Pretty sure that would be a dead deer.

I filed the casting lines and gates off the trigger guard of the Kibler 58 kit. I also filed off the rivets from the pinned and epoxied ramrod tip. Stored my newly cast 530 round balls in some round tins I bought from the Dollar store. Marked the tops with a Sharpie.

I was able to put a shaving sharp edge on one of the antique, bone handled knives I found last week. So I decided to make a neck sheath for it and try using it as a patch knife. I saddle stitched the leather, but just eyeballed the holes, so they’re a little crooked. Don’t know how well the knife will hold an edge, but it was a fun project.

Reground the sear on the hammers and triggers.

Made the fixture easier to find the Zero start. and [wrote on the fixture the numbers to use]

Adjusted the angle on the trigger maybe a 1/2 degree, now they are rock steady.

Also shortened the half cock finger so that it doesn't catch when it is not suppose to!
