The joint on this gun is tight and not a weak point. I’ve never taken the barrel out of the stock and probably never will. This gun fits me well and is very accurate.

Just took delivery of my rifle case from Kibler. It's made by Unique, and is really pretty nice.

Gave two new club members their range and safety briefing. Then shot my percussion pistol a little, did decently.

Today started off bright and sunny, and carried on just like that until it started getting dark a few minutes ago. Today being a guest day, unusual for a Saturday - for me, anyhow - I took along my trusty ROA and a Parker-Hale Musketoon - I also took two other BP rifles, but they use these new-fangled cartridge things, so I won't mention them.

And today was a great day not only for me, but for no less than TWELVE of the guests who have never fired a BP anything before, let alone a big lump of a handgun - in fact, five of them had never fired a handgun before and one old boy had last fired a handgun in 1996, just before he's had to hand it in. So for him, today was particularly poignant for him. As ever was, the look on guests' faces as they shot a service-loaded .577cal Minié was a real treat. and for those shooting a handgun, a revelation.

So, having sent 120 .44cal ball and thirty-odd ..577cal Miniés down range, the day was done, and I've just finished the clean-up of three rifles and a handgun.

It is just sooooo satisfying to be able to do this for people - I'm sure many here know that feeling. It's good, isn't it?

It's easy for you guys in the USA to scoff at the things we get up to over here, but given the strictures under which we are compelled by law to operate, I hope you can see just what it means to be able to pass on some of the fun stuff like this.

Unboxed a TC Seneca that arrived at the door today. Is an early 4 digit .45 cal. The barrel is brown not blued like most factory and has a dovetail buck horn rear sight. Not factory screw on sight. Front sight is silver Hawken style not the factory partridge style. The barrel is marked Thompson Center Arms, CAL45, ROCHESTER,NEW HAMPSHIRE. No warning label. On the bottom is stamped a . So maybe a Sharon Barrel, if so I'm very excited. It came with a 5 digit .36 Cal barrel with common factory sights. Does not have Seneca stamped on the barrel after .36CAL , and no warning label. Appears to be unfired.
Was an auction buy and I had no info on it. So I'm very please with what was in the box. Can't wait for some range time.

Life's Too Short For Inferior Locks.

The new Chambers Large Siler percussion arrived today. Worth every single penny.

Excluding Kibler's, there are three prominent lock makers available to the masses. Chambers and the other two.

Just one man's opinion, stop trying to save money by buying the other two contenders. I realize the temptation is there. I'm guilty of it. Twice.

But not anymore. Saving 50 bucks or 100 bucks is no savings at all. All you get for your savings is headache and heartache and a lock of complete and total substandard quality.

The pictures below are straight out the packaging. I've touched nothing. Beautifully machined. Beautifully finished. Finely deburred. And the sear bar is dead nuts in the same spot at full down, half cock and full cock. Sweet sweet trigger with no slop.

Put all my stuff in the Jeep for a trip to the range early tomorrow morning. Reorganized my range box, too much junk in it. Filled my powder horn with Schuetzen 3F. The wind is nuts here today about 60-70 mph and tomorrow too but might be a little calmer as the sun comes up so that's when I'll be at the range.

Heat and humidity increasing in Florida. I went out to see if my load work up would hold up in the heat. I'm happy with it. Now I'm waiting for my range to finish construction on the 100/400 yd. range. I may have to take a drive to FWC's range down south to shoot 100 yds.View attachment 213239

Decent enough day to throw some lead down range. 45cal Douglas barrel T/C Hawken stock with target sights. Took only a few shots to get her sighted in. Not a bad day. I'm really liking this rifle.
