Polished up a JUKAR Spanish flint lock on one of those two piece forearm import rifles. Would never have touched the thing , but a friend is a friend. Received from Log Cabin Shop , some tiny flints to fit the lock hammer. Moved the frizzen toward the bolster about .025 inch so it touches the barrel at the touch hole keeping the powder from leaking out while he frizzen is down. Guess part of the reason I took the job , is that my friend said , that gun is a piece of crap , and no one could fix it. Got the rust polished out of the badly neglected barrel. I'll sneak off to the range before I give it back to him , and make sure it shoots ok.

I had surgery on my right shoulder. I spent much of last night wondering how long it would be before I could shoot again.
For me it was 12 weeks before the dr let me shoot!! Fast forward 13 years and now I possibly will have to do it again grrr who ever said getting old was easy

I would have to say OUCH!!! My right shoulder wouldn't take it. I have a smoothie 12 gauge that is light and I shot .705 out of. To much for me.

Hehehe...my old Brown Bess (.75 cal / 11 ga smoothie) was fine with a patched .735" ball if you didn't let any fouling build up. If you did, she kicked like a mule, so I can appreciate the sentiment.

We met for our annual night shoot, last night. We had a good turnout, with onlookers who drove out to see the show; the president of the club, along with his wife, cooked enough sausages on the barby to feed a small army. These pics remind me of why a couple of our chaps call these firearms 'flinchrocks' :). And why safety glasses are advised 👍.

Cheers, Pete

I think this old m/l rifle is a late 1970's era Spanish kit from what's stamped on the barrel. Was never assembled well , as the flint lock , was not inlet so the lock bolster would touch the side of the barrel to mate up w/ the touch hole. The gap between the bolster and barrel , allowed priming powder gases to burn inside the lock mortise. I'm in the process of reinletting the lock mortise to fix the gap between lock and barrel. The rear sight was installed backwards , and tang bolt missing , easy fixes. Next , check to see if I have some .440 rb's , and patch material that will work. Bore cleaned up ok , w/no pits. Proper flints for the lock came yesterday from Log Cabin m/l Shop Lodi Ohio , and a lock polish , and tune up made it spark. Perhaps to the range next week ? Hope springs eternal this old dog will sing..........And my friend said it couldn't be done.
