I finally might have some time to deer hunt now. I dusted off my my Left handed GPR .54 and shot 2 rounds out of it at 50yards and figured it was good so I did not fire a 3rd ball. The load was a .530”

patched RB with 75 grs of 3F.

Had a good day weather wise. Wanted to tweak the .58 Renegade in a bit better. This is going to be the go to this muzzle Season in January. I am pleased with it. I bought it on here, can't remember who (did a search can't find it)
So far so good. 70 grains of Triple 7, 278 grain Lee Round Ball. 50 yard distance. Using a musket cap until I run out of them.View attachment 369402View attachment 369401
What’s the twist in your 58 is it 1 /48 .

Purchased a Jukar Colonial a while back. The barrel pin is tapered. The previous owner drilled the pin hole out to the larger side diameter and so the pin didn't do a lot. I welded the hole and re-drilled to the proper diameter hole. The pistol also shot about 24" high at 15 yards so i filed down the rear sight a decent amount. Now I just need to get it out to do the final sight in and see how much more is needed to be filed down.

Twas a nice day here in KCMO awesome for shooting so I headed to Parma Wood Conservation Area's staffed range and made smoke with the .40 Kibler SMR. My first ever shooting a rock lock. Started with .390 balls and .015 patching 60gr Goex 3f. 25 yards. Fired my first shot kind of by surprise. Man what a sweet trigger. Went to load the second shot and my short starter was missing the tip. Rut Ro. Settled in and shot 5 rounds pretty happy with the gun. I fired 25 balls between 25 and 75 yards. Gun appears bit low and to the right the elevation I can deal with via site picture and the windage. I'ma gonna wait a bit for the barrel to get happier. I had to wipe it about every 5 shots but it was finding it's happy place faster then I thought it would. First 15 patches were smoked pieces of char cloth smoldering on the ground. The last 5 looked better with the last two (in the picture) were reasonably in good shape. All in all more trigger time is needed before I start fooling around with dialing it in. Here are a couple target pics. First one was my first shot at the right target and the long tear in the left target was the short starter tip.(duplex load) Bwaahahaha! My last two patches and the remains of the flint. (Looked like a retired NHL hockey players smile) 2nd pic is my final group of three at 25yards and includes two doinks by me. 50 and 75 yards target were not saved. The 50 yard resulted in a consitent vital hit on a deer 3 shots. At 75 yards the red target didn't play well with my eyes, but would have resulted in a vital hit. I had one miss fire I picked the vent after two attempts and she barked fire and belched smoke. Its a learning curve and I certainly had big fun! Pretty sure the flint should have lasted more than 25 shots plus a half dozen dry fires. Maybe I'm expecting too much from the flint life?

Today I redid the he strap for my powder horn. I had a wampum bead strap that was interesting looking but was a bit farby and wasn’t as durable or comfortable as I wanted.

I dyed the strap and finished with resolene, then attached it to my bag along with my vent prick and powder horn stopper.

I’m very happy with the way it looks and it’s more comfortable for sure, and lighter in weight. It will be a lot more rugged I think.
