today i turned a big rectangle of wood into a pile of dust and shavings.
ended up with a long rounded piece of curvy walnut with brass accents. every time i start one of these things its like I have never done it before. I start to sweat and all of a sudden, there is hope starting to peek out of the wood. I absolutely love the process!. Maybe it will be done in time for spring turkey!
now if i could only catch that slob that makes a mess of my work space!

There’s a beautiful gun stock inside that hunk of walnut, waiting for you to get her out!

One side about done. I’ll go back tomorrow to work on the off side and clean up some of the lines, but for now that’s all- I’m exhausted.

New wedgeplates ('cause I can't spell escutcheons) for the scrap Gemmer stock. I didn't like the brass...couldn't make them flat...bought some 1/8th barstock...like 'em better. Steel dust sure makes the hands dirty. On the weather front...the snow is almost gone, Chilly in Knoxville
Knoxville huh? I’m just a bit north of you in the Jacksboro area. Small world.

I'm making western and eastern red cedar charcoal for testing purposes only. Taking a break from the ugly rifle build for a spell. I have a CVA Mountaineer coming from Gunbroker if it ever gets here. Gotta get some more balls cast for projectiles and to go in the tumbler.
