What Muzzleloading Stuff Did You Do Today?

Shot my Frontier flintlock this morning. It started out 40F but dropped to 15F over a couple of hours. Snowing now. I was glad I threw the capote on. Had a good outing until my fingers started to seize up.

Another great pic! Totally different outlook here Timber Wolf! We are going through a bit of a weather event here at present. I won't be heading out until at least next Wednesday - hope we stay high and dry! We are out of the current Evacuation Zone just yet. In the meantime, I'll review all the new posts while the internet thingy holds out. Catch you all on the dry side.

Brag day. We had our monthly shootout this morning and the trophies were awarded for overall performance in 2024. Very happy. I'm not really very good but am operating in a small pond. I started last year with the object of not coming in last. Also got 3rd place in who is the oldest. All fun and something to look forward to each month.

This nice fine cold morning went to my club for a 20 target woods walk. Took the 28ga Fowler, started off good then pooped the bed as did many others. Had a fun time!

I went to a small local gun show. Only two muzzle loaders for sale for too much. I did see a few caps for sale for $15 a tin but I didn’t need any.

spent most of the day plowing snow.............AGAIN! then spent the rest of the day fixing equipment.
just dragged out the birch .54 flintlock out and discovered my flasks were all empty. went to the powder locker and found 1/2 a can of homebrew 2f. have the rifle dialed in with 3f. shot it 3 times with 60g ff, .535 ball, .010 patch greased with bear and bees. shows promise, but my steam gauge reads zero so that is it for me today. wanted to spend some hours on the fowler build but tomorrow is hopefully another day.

Went to the monthly shoot today. When I got home and started to clean my GPR I found I had lost a wedge key. First one in 50 some years. Replacement will be captured.
Otherwise had a great time.

Smelted a couple hundred pounds of lead today.

Snowing hard in Montana today so the "Tinsel Fairy" paid me a couple visits!
