Only had one brass frame, it shot loose eventually. Stainless Old Army - never a problem. Steel Frame Remington - never a problem. 1849 pocket model - .31 - had a broken spring when I got it, now repaired, fun gun but not for targets. Enjoy.

I have a lot of revolvers, but the one I grab the most often is my Pietta 1851 .36 Navy. Pleasant to shoot, and very accurate, ragged one hole groups at 25 yards and clay targets at 75 yards (see attached photo, 6 shot group at 75 yards, and unlike most, my Pietta shoots to point of aim!) no problem from a bench. Just feels right. Also have a 1851 Uberti, which I could live with just as well, i just shoot the Pietta more because it is getting pretty worn and I don't care about scuffs and scratches, and the Uberti is still almost factory new. The Walker and Dragoons are fun on occasion, but wouldn't want them as my only revolvers, due to weight and size. If I could have only one revolver, it would be an 1858 Army in .44, Uberti or Pietta, wouldn't matter much. The reason is more reliable, stronger, and since I hunt deer with my revolvers, I need the power of a .44. The 1858 Army .44's are also easily modified for a specific purpose outside the domain of this forum, but which I really enjoy also. I would have picked the Ruger Old Army as my one and only, but it is getting hard to acquire, and quite expensive when it can be found. Fortunately I have had mine for many decades before production stopped and prices became outrageous.
