I have a Pietta 58 New Army #10 caps fit tight and don't go on all the way and i get a lot of FTFs is my hammer spring too week? The spring on my 58 is a lot weaker than the one on my 51 Colt. When i use #11 caps they are pretty lose. I squeeze them some and they fit better but i worry about them coming off. Should i put the niples in a drill and turn them down some? I just got a Pietta parts kit along with a spare cylinder today. I going to try the new spring and see if it is any better. What size caps do you guy use in your Pietta 58s?

Mike

CCI 10's are a snug fit on my Pietta '58. I'll have to try some Rem's, but IMO snug is better than loose fit.

Try Remington #10 caps, a little bigger than cci #10

yep, those CCI #10 caps often take 2 hits on my '58. Have read poor reviews about Remington caps but I have only had a few not go off out of the few hundred I've shot so far

Try using a piece of wooden dowel to fully seat your caps. My 58 Pietta takes #11 caps and CCI's fit nice and snug without excessive pressure. My 60 Pietta takes #10's and all I can get in a 10 is Remington but they work ok.
