I've been playing with the Pedersoli Tennesee Pistol lately and the only thing bad I could say was the trigger pull. Must have been 20 lbs so the sights would never stay on target after I pulled the trigger.

I stayed with it to help me force myself to keep aiming but knew something would eventually have to be done.

Working slowly I got the pull down a bit at a time over the past few weeks. Today I stopped with a nice 3 lb trigger that is reliable. It will not fall from full cock no matter how hard I hit it and it releases like a nice glass rod when I pull the trigger.

How light do you like a single trigger?

i could live with a 3 lb pull. unless it has a set trigger, i wouldn't want it less. opinions may differ.

I like a 3 lb pull. Thats usually right around what I try for.

It depends on the type & intended use of the gun. My target pistols are 2 & 1/4 to 2 & 1/2 pounds pull. I consider that way too light to use on a carry or hunting gun without a set trigger. In a very controlled environment (target range) a light pull is (IMHO) desirable but to carry the gun (woods walk, hunting) a light pull is just too easy to set off prematurely. My 2 cents. Others may differ.

I like a pull that's as light as I can get it while still maintaining crispness and predictibility. I run 8-12 ounces on several of my modern target guns and muzzleloaders with set triggers, if they'll adjust that low and remain safe. The only place I'll run such a light pull is in a controlled environment as Coot mentioned though. I wouldn't carry one into the field.

Agree with all on this thread. My Colt revolvers have a 2.5-lb. trigger pull, which is OK for target work, but a little light for carry. I too like the the 3-lb pull. It's interesting how many of us do - even with modern pistols. Even though I'm used to it, I will eventually have mine changed to 3-lbs. Best for overall use.

 A 2-5# range would be in the region I try to adjust all my pistols. Of course on my Russian Free Pistol I use 10 grammes, but that is a flaming ##@$% low trigger pull---not to be used an any other gun.As listed above my Target Pistols (Pardini's & Walther, Rock River 1911 .45) are in the range of 1000g to 3.5# depending on the requirements for competition. If you are going to shoot ML target pistols---frankly I have a custom made .40 flintlock pistol with a single set trigger that is set to 1.00#, just for competition. For hunting purposes I would want around 3#-5# and do not use a set trigger, unless on a tree stand.
