I put in an order on 4/28 it was delivered today. Looks like they are clearing out the backlog. I have an order put in the same day for some fishing tackle that isn't even shipped yet.

We've been trying to hire for my optometry office in WV and I'm having major trouble even getting people listed on job sites to respond to requests for interviews. We've scheduled several for interviews who didn't even show up or call.
'"Help Wanted", "Now Hiring", "Position Available" etc etc etc
The signs have popped up like dandelions.

I still have a high level of confidence in DGW. I've placed a number of orders to them since they've been shipping slow and I've gotten everything I ordered and it came in good condition and well packaged. I just placed another order with them. I have also ordered from other major suppliers and I am getting almost the same delay in delivery from all of them. They are all slow and they are all having difficulty getting the job done with limited help. I will continue to buy from Dixie and expect just what I'm getting. That is good product for fair prices and delivery as expected based on what they are saying they can do.

They are a good, fair and honest company that has been around for a long time doing just what they are doing now. Nothing is going wrong there that I can see. They are just overwhelmed like everyone else.

I'd never hope they don't survive. I'll still do business with them but not until they catch up.

I can remember when my mom and I would spend hours studying big mail-order company's catalogs.
If money was available we would decide what to get and then fill out the form. Putting it carefully in an envelope and sending it off was like casting a stone off of a high mountain. It would vanish in the distance and we'd have to hope for the best.

Usually, it was several months or more later and "out of nowwhere" a box would appear on our porch. THE STUFF! YIPPEE! It was here at long last.

Nowadays we get people grumbling if it takes a week or so to get stuff from a supplier.

They would be a lot happier if they tried remembering back to the, "good old days" and be grateful for the short waits they have to endure now.

Have personally been buying stuff from Dixie for over 30 years. Some ups and downs but they have always come through. They currently are up front on their website with the potential delays. Don’t understand why so called traditional muzzleloaders eat their own and then complain about lack of suppliers. Remember when it took a month or so at best to receive an item after you put your order form and check in the mail. The good old days I guess...... And for what it is worth, in recents times if has taken 10+ days for Second Day Delivery to arrive at my door for items shipped by members of this forum. With tracking. Appears some forum members would want me to blast these sellers and cancel my offer because of the long shipping times.

As far as just hiring help, aware of a couple of local job fares that drew zero applicants for jobs in the $15 to $20 an hour range. Just the way it is. As always, just my opinion.
Second hand but a friend who lives in Reno says the casino he favors had a job fair. 20 applicants showed up and they have 200+ openings.

As recently as ten years ago people in northwestern Colorado were ecstatic with two week delivery... come to think of it they’re also the least likely to whine about extended delays today..

Not having access to the demographic information, I can only hazard a guess and say that I am likely one of the very few members of this forum under 40. I am also old enough to remember when catalog ordering was the only way to get things you couldn’t buy locally. I’m also old enough to remember the wait, sometimes a month or more, to receive said goods. I’m sure everyone else here is, also. The problem in this situation is that it’s been just barely long enough for folks to get comfortable with instant transactions and two shipping. Forget all the talk about labor shortages and supply interruptions and everything else. We’ve become a society of instant gratification and some folks just can’t get by without something to ***** about.

Those addicted to "instant gratification" are in for a real shock.

in 1970 i ordered a set of pistons and rings from JC Whitney for a 1959 Austin Healey 100-6. 6 months later i got them . shipped from Surrey B.C. i was a happy Dog just to get them.
the days of instant gratification are at an end. DGW is held captive to the pipeline supply like everyone.
try buying sight filler blank stock .

Does anyone know what's going on with Dixie Gun Works? Are they no longer in business? I placed an order with them on Feb 26th and still haven't received anything. I've tried their contact us form 3 times and no answer from them. Today I tried calling both their 800 number and the 731 number and both go to being unable to complete due to the called party being unavailable. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.
I ordered a ramrod recently, and the charge appeared on my cr. card, so there's probably computer and / or covid related stuff. I'm sure they're still in business!

That's simply not true. I already mentioned I can order from Muzzle-Loaders or October Country and the order is shipped in 1-2 days.

I am very lucky to live within a half-hour’s drive of DGW. It’s a wonderful place to visit, but there are few things causing the current situation.

1) They are very short staffed. They have maybe twenty people to handle the phones, warehouse, shipping, storefront, everything. The staffing shortage is caused partially by the historically high unemployment money right now, and partially by drugs.Unfortunately not many folks around here can piss clean long enough to get or keep a job.

2) Order volume. They never stopped taking orders due to COVID, and they never closed their storefront. Also, the current climate of fear and regulation has increased their order volume dramatically due to panic buying. They’ve been filling orders as fast as possible, but they’ve been flooded.

3) The phones. During my last visit the phone rang. I jokingly asked if it was someone calling about powder. With a straight face the lady told me that they get so many calls a day asking about caps, powder, and revolvers in stock that they’ve had to move a phone to the packaging table so they can multitask. Literally hundreds of calls a day.

I’m not offering this as a defense or an apology, just an explanation/observation since I go there frequently. DGW is basically staffed by a platoon of little old ladies doing the very best they can, they’ve just been overwhelmed. They are trying to catch up, but as the weather improves and shooting activities increase, they’ve got a long road ahead of them.
Your comments are really cogent. Nice to live so close! My image of Dixie is that it is a fine, upright, patriotic, company. There may be problems in the area, but I'm certain that the mgmt. would in no way allow any illicit drug use. I always imagined that most of the employees are highly aware of the company image, and probably are muzzleloading minded right from the get-go. I've been ordering the Catalog (still only $5!) since the 1960's. Thanks to all.

I ordered a rifle kit and some other items 3/01 and received them 3/28 which seemed to be on the fast end of current expectations.

I stopped dealing with Dixie due that their prices seem to be about 10 to 20% higher than everyone else. GM straight barrels are at $189.00. Those same barrels are at $170.00 almost everywhere else. Locks (Flintlocks) are at $200.00 for L&R and $225.00 for Chambers. Some are even higher. Respectively those same locks are at $170.00 & $190.00 at almost everywhere else. E.G. TOTW, Log Cabin Shop, and MBS. The higher prices seem to blanket nearly all of their catalog. For me, their 3 - 4 week delay has worn itself out. All others seem to have recovered for the most part . . . even the smaller shops. No doubt that they are good people but . . . there seems to be a fox in the hen house.

Bought a Pedersoli Indian trade gun from them last Friday and had it the next Tuesday. I did pay an extra 12 bucks for faster shipping. Guess I’m lucky I got mine so fast.
