ive been wanting a fowling piece for some time now. with my recent musket purchase ive onley wanted a fowling piece even more. however ive been thinking it might be neat to use a wheellock ignition instead of the normal flintlock. certainly the lightening fast ignition of the wheellock would making taking birds on the wing much easier.

i need some images so i can get an idea of what i want. im thinking something long slender and light weight. if yall can point me in the direction of some good pictures of guns that fit the bill i would really appreciate it.

thank you
-Matt

i just went to their website and they mention a wheellock fowler but do not provide a picture. i would never order any thing from the rifle shoppe due to there reputation for taking years and then making mistakes after taking years.

i need some pictures of original guns or even new guns that would fit the bill.

thanks

Matt85 about your concerns the rifle shopp but they do carry what a few others dont

Most unique kits or non self items. have a wait time but one has to decide if a wait is worth it or not
I can tell you once that smooth bore bug hit you be hard pressed go with anything else. Now all my rifles are ssmoothies

buzz, its not worth the wait. ive heard that after you wait a couple years for your kit to show up it will often come incomplete or poorly made. then after that id need to have someone build it for me so that would add another 6 months to a year. waiting up to 4 years for a gun wouldnt work for me. the rifle shoppe will not get my business.

no ones got any pictures? im not having much luck with google.

I do not have time now but tomorrow I will present a few pictures :hatsoff:

I'm not an employee of, nor even a customer of the rifle shoppe, so don't take this as a defense of their buisness practices. I gather from your post that you can't or won't be building this wheelock fowler yourself. You can get all the pictures you want but someone else is going to have to do the work for you. That someone will have to get at least the lock from somewhere. Since The Rifle Shoppe is the only place I know of who offer wheellocks or lock kits, one way or another you are going to be waiting on them. If its truly what you want I would suggest ordering their catalogue so you can choose your lock now so it might get to you by the time you've found someone who will build it for you and have waited on their list the 6mos. to 2years it takes to be the next project to be built. It sucks but your still looking at 2 years or so before you get your smoothbore. :shake:

Matt, check out Ricky's post below yours on Indian Wheelock redo. You may want to find out where he got his lock and who tuned it for him. It may be just what your looking for. He's very helpful when it comes to these things. :idunno: :v

i dont need the rifle shoppe, i have every intention of having raszpla build at least the lock for me (possibly the whole gun). ive seen his work time and time again on this forum and hes never failed to impress me!

I agree to smoothbore asking for a catalog is not much i have catalogs from few suppliers i never care to order f but i havethere catalogs just in case that one day

Pictures are worth a 1000 words
But consider how much time you waited for the indian musket witch by your posts isnt exactly the all that
You also my post want ads for what your looking for
Not doing much or none of the biuld your atthe mercyof a biulders time table and nonproduction piece takes unknown amounts of time

:eek:ff we getting pretty far off topic.

i dont mind waiting for something nice. however, waiting more then a year for something is beyond me! the longest ive ever waited waited was 10 months for a non-muzzleloading device. by the time it showed up i almost didnt even care any more. the excitement of a new firearm has its limits. by the way i didnt intend to wait that long for the musket... they told me about a month or so and it turned into two months which pissed me off! ive been waiting about 6 months for my custom jaeger to be built but he qouted me at 4-6 months so im not concerned if he takes a little longer. (he tells me its about ready for carving/finishing)

back on topic: if no one has any pictures can yall recomend where i could find some?

thanks
-matt

matt i was just pointing out waiting for a biuld is common if ones not buying off the self guns
nature of the beast sort of
im also not supporting the Rifle shoppe but i do have there catalog and its like having tracks catalog there web site is great bu t the catalog is well worth the funds to get and again its not suporting TOTW but just saying
dont close any doors if your seeking images might i suggest a web search and see whats turns up smithsonian might be a nother source as the weapons museum in england but i forgotton the name of it I dint find much on wheel locks on utube as a year ago i was wee you are today trying to find one a source for a biulder and two what early piece i wanted to add to my gun rack
wish i had some help in givingyou some pics but i cant
