Not much for black powder and supplies near me, so I have to buy online.
Graf&sons, Buffalo Arms, Midway USA are a few places I've ordered from.

I think I have bought most mine from Grafs or powder valley. It is not always in stock but it is periodically. I keep a more than adequate buffer stock so that works for me.

Thanks everyone I'm new to this so I"m starting a list of places to look. Same with rifles, I don't have one yet buy I'm doing the research. I hope to get a kit after x-mas ,Another question ,is there an app for this group for my phone? Thanks Burt

No app that I am aware of. I use my phone's web browser to come to this web site.

There actually is an app, as you can see on my home screen I have it. But I can't for the life of me find where I got it from. It was offered somewhere on here a while back. But it's really nothing different than viewing the site on an internet browser so you're not missing much if you don't find it.

I just got some 3f from Powder Valley. Have used them and Grafs before, it is best if you can either order 4+lbs at once or go in on a shipment with a local buddy or add in percussion caps, etc. to amortize the hazmat fee down to a reasonable per-item cost

Edit - and as for a phone app for here..... I may be a curmudgeon, but as someone who can in fact write said apps (been writing code since 1983) I think it is insane to use an app for something that can be done via browser on the desktop. But that is just my curmudgeonly self ....

My local gun shops do not carry black powder and most only carry the substitute pellets. One of the owners stated that it was due to NYS regulations and restrictions on storage etc. I tend to buy mine when I visit free America IE my son in Missouri. Depending on where you live in NY you may consider checking for shops over the state line and call them to ask if they carry it. Dealers will sell you anything just to make a sale sometimes. A friend of mine bought a flintlock kit I had sitting around that i hadn't built in years. I told him that he would need to get some real black powder as his 777 would not do it. Went to Cabelas while visiting his daughter in OH and they sold him Jim Shockey's Gold telling him that it should work. Wished he'd called before buying. He helped me with a furnace repair so I gave him a pound of powder.

Start making a daily search on the sites mentioned. When you find some in stock buy it right then. Buy enough that you won't have to worry about it for a year or so. 10-15 lbs.

Edit: I just noticed you live in NY, disregard my recommendation. No telling what type of restrictions y'all have there now. Best of luck.

That's funny, I have the app also and for the life of me I have no idea how it got there. Maybe their tracking me. 🤔

As far as stocking up on black powder, it doesn't work. The more you have of it, the more you shoot of it. 10 pounds would last me the same as 20 pounds. Or 30 pounds. I just shoot more and more. I believe it's a illness of sorts. Perhaps it's covered by my medical insurance. Maybe get a prescription for 2Fg and 3Fg black powder. Just for medicinal purposes . I'm going to need to talk to my insurance provider. 😏
