Hello every one,
I am expecting the arrival soon of a box of parts that will be my first flintlock rifle. I shoot percussion guns now and use 777, but have to have the real stuff for my new baby. However I live in western Massachusetts and I cannot have BP shipped to me here :cursing: . I was wondering if any of you flinters in this area (New England) could tell me where you get your powder.

Thanks H

You can get it from J&J Pyrotechnics in Pa.

Can't do mail order to mASSachusetts. Got a friend in Vt. that will go in on a lot? Powder Inc. and other vendors can ship there.

I do not know of anyplace west of the Ct. river that still has real black, southern Vt. vendors do not have it either. :shake:

Don't know about nearby NY , Hillary and Schumer scare the %*#t out of me so I avoid it.

Give "Hunters Rendezvous" a call 508-433-9458
they are located in Pepperell ,Mass.

Try ordering from here.. I buy by the case.
Don't have any problems....

well, Hobbes, fear the government that fears your guns (insert forbidden political tirade here)

too bad that you have to cope with the restrictions in the people's rupublik of taxachusetts, been there, did that.

i'm in southern VT, and i get my real powder across the river from a fellow in southwestern NH. Alstead Gunshop in (of course) Alstead NH.

good luck in your search.

Rielie's sport shop in Hookset NH. Just across the border. A little north of Manchester NH.
All graduations of Goex and no sales tax

Hobbes:

Gun and Sport North, 248 A Broadway North, Lawrence, MA. they carry Goex. Small shop, but they do carry BP, in spite of several attempts by the State to get them to stop.

For better understanding to a german fellow:

The problem is not buying or availability, only shipping and perhaps the fact that the state don't want bp shooters.

I think it's mainly a matter of ignorance on the part of those state governments that restrict the sale & transport of blackpowder. Either that or it's a deliberate effort under the guise of some anti-terrorism law. Fortunately, most of us don't have those problems & can buy up to 50lbs of blackpowder at a time.

When I lived in Vermont I used to buy my BP from Bixby Oil in Poultney, VT. Selling fuel oil is their primary business, but they also supply the slate quarries in the area with explosives. Black Powder is the preferred explosive because it breaks off the slate in big chunks. So, they always have plenty of GOEX BP.

If you're not familiar with that part of Vermont, Poultney is about 28-30 miles north of Manchester on Hwy 30.

I don't think so ... on the way to the JAN 2007 Primitive Snowshoe Biathlon, we stopped at Riley's and they were NOT carrying blackpowder. They were ****** that Cabela's will be moving into NH and will be getting 80 acres from NH 'tax free' just for parking.

Riley's told us they'd put in a State-approved black powder bunker when they get their free 80 acres too ...
