Now I will say to some of you, I've seen the talk about getting annoyed how fired up people get over stuff. This isn't a hunting show, it's just who I am I woulda acted the same way if I had the camera or not. I have been trying to shoot and kill stuff since I could crawl, it's in the blood. So anyhow, I've been trying to kill a daggum groundhog with my flintlock for a while now. Last summer and this summer.
Hit one Friday night and yesterday afternoon, but I finally put one down without it getting in it's hole Saturday evening.
They give me good sport and it keeps my skills sharp. I kill this one at 71 paces while resting off my knee.
In fact all 3 I shot at this weekend were over 70 yards and I hit 3 for 3. That's a dead deer ya know😁

Awesome! I know how you feel. We have ground hawgs here on our farm that I have been trying to get rid of slowly but surely. I’ve shot them with all sorts of modern guns but none with a muzzleloader. Yet. It’s like they know that I can’t shoot very well past 50 yards and they won’t let me get closer than 52 yards. Or they know when I have a muzzleloader and when I don’t. But one of these days, they’ll mess up when I have the 50 caliber with me,,,,,,

Thanks for the video! I always enjoy your videos.

Nice shooting Brian. I think groundhog taste like squirrels. Put them in a slow cooker with baby carrots, celery, potatoes, onions, seasoning, etc. They turn out tender. And good. Just make sure you get ALL the scent glands off. I think there is 6. Two are under the arm pits that are easy to miss.

Excellent shot placement on that last hog. They are tougher than folks give em credit for. When I started muzzleloading there was still a strong population around, before coyotes moved in ate them up. The 50 caliber with heavy slugs would poke through them, and just like you've experienced, they would make it to their holes most times to expire. Fun times and great practice for deer season. Thanks for sharing.
Dad has a few living under his barn but he is getting soft and doesn't want them 'harvested'.
